More than 50% of items made from PTFE and PTFE-based compounds
are fabricated as blanks or billets which are then machined into
finished parts.
PTFE has a number of physical and mechanical properties which
make PTFE processing techniques different from metal-working
methods. These properties determine processing conditions and
geometry of the cutting tools:
- PTFE has a low thermal conductivity which is lower than thermal
conductivity of structural steel by a factor of 102.
This prevents thermal dissipation inside the polymer and may cause
heating of tools and work pieces;
- high linear expansion coefficient (10 times higher than that of
structural steel) distorts linear dimensions of the work piece and
affects precision of fabrication;
- crystalline pattern transition which occurs at the temperature
of 19.6 îÑ, and related 1.5% increase in the volume of
the item;
- occurrence of elastic and plastic deformations;
- PTFE surface hardness is significantly lower than that of
steel.
In fabricating precision parts from PTFE and PTFE-based
compounds, it is necessary eliminate internal stresses in the
material. It should be noted that the fabrication process should be
implemented and its results should be checked at a room temperature
(higher than 20îÑ) to ensure that the dimensions being
measured correspond to the dimensions on the drawing. Measurement
results will be more accurate if measuring instruments will not
create excess pressures affecting the PTFE part.
Ftoroplastoviye Tekhnologii JSC has a modern mechanical
workshop for machining fluoroplastic into finished items based on
Clients' drawings.
The milling and lathing machine shop is fitted with modern
equipment such as CNC machines.
We have extensive experience in fabricating seals (valve
seats, rings, gaskets) for valves and fittings (ball cocks,
butterfly valves, chemical check valves) from DN20 to DN150.
We make seals and parts for food-processing and oil and gas
processing and instrument-making industries and seals (pressure
rings, bearing rings, packing rings, cups) for various chemical
pumps.
You can get information on the cost and fabrication time for
